If improvement can be achieved by building upon previous successes, the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. appears to have found a winning formula in its venture into New Tech education.
BCSC has already achieved national recognition in a relatively short period of time through its high school programs, which use cutting edge technology and require students to work on real-life inter-disciplinary project-based learning.
These innovative programs were essentially developed from scratch by a dedicated group of administrators and teachers who demonstrated some incredible creativity in formulating the various elements that have gone into the system.
Today educators from throughout the nation are looking to the Columbus plan as a blueprint for their school districts.
Now, the local model has evolved into other areas.
Last week, Central Middle School received approval to become a member of the New Tech Network. It is a significant recognition in that Central and two others will be the first in the nation to offer these courses to middle school students.
