Big Plans For New Buffalo High School

BUFFALO -- The new Buffalo High School is currently a construction zone, but school leaders are hoping to make it an innovation zone. Putnam County Schools are hoping to get a state grant that will open the door to create programs to improve teaching and learning.

“It will get students engaged in meaningful, contextual and relevant curriculum. We do that through engaging community and forming community partnerships,” said Cindy Daniel, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at Putnam County Schools.

The goal is to create a "New Tech High School" at Buffalo. It would be the first in the state. It's a national model that makes technology more a part of teaching.

“I think it will be more rewarding to teach. I'm not sure it is going to be easier,” said Linda Hoffman, a teacher at Buffalo High School.

She was one of many who traveled to Indiana to see a “New Tech High School” in action.
