ducator Cathi Cox-Boniol left Louisiana Tech University five years ago for a position with Lincoln Parish Schools. Since then she’s assumed a second full-time position with the district at no additional pay and works from predawn to way after dark.
Cox-Boniol was hired to develop ACHIEVE, a program created by the district to create community partnerships. She has since taken over the district’s newest endeavor, Ruston New Tech High School.
But Cox said she wouldn’t trade her jobs for anything. She believes so strongly in both programs that she essentially volunteers her time in one so that both can keep going.
“I see beyond these 14- and 15-year-olds that walk these halls,” she said. “As a career educator, I want to provide the founders of the community with young people who are able to take their place. I want to make them better citizens.”
