IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Idaho Falls School District 91 is moving forward with the possibility of opening a New Tech high school.
Last week, the district sent 16 people to visit one of the schools in Texas. On Tuesday, those individuals shared their reactions with the school board.
New Tech is a network that develops innovative public high schools around the country with a more real-world approach to curriculum.
A unanimous "aye" solidified the board's decision to file an application for the tech-savvy school.
"I would die to have my children do this," said board member Larry Haws.
The approval came on the heels of a visit to the Manor New Tech school in Texas, where 16 people, mostly community members, got a firsthand look at a curriculum that's based on group projects, collaboration, blending of the subjects and using technology to enable learning.
One by one, those who took the trip described classrooms that felt "electric."
