KnowledgeWorks, Ohio Education Matters, Digital Learning Now! to Sponsor Digital Education Summit in Columbus

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Former West Virginia Governor Bob Wise, education entrepreneur Tom Vander Ark and KnowledgeWorks CEO Chad P. Wick are among those set to speak at a summit Tuesday that will explore ways digital learning can improve student performance and lower education costs in Ohio and throughout the United States.

The summit, titled “Learning Unbound,” is sponsored by KnowledgeWorks subsidiary Ohio Education Matters through its Ohio Smart Schools initiative. It comes at a time when KnowledgeWorks is completing its comprehensive review of public education spending in Ohio, looking for ways both to accelerate student achievement at a time when the public education system has fewer dollars to spend because of the lingering economic crisis. That review, Ohio Smart Schools, will include recommendations on how expanding the use of digital learning in Ohio will help the state's public education system do more with less. That report will be released next month.

Deirdre Finn, deputy executive director of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, will discuss key elements of digital learning as part of Digital Learning Now! -- a national digital learning advocacy group composed of more than 50 leaders from education, government, philanthropy, business, technology and think tanks.

The event will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbus Athenaeum.
