New learning curve at Wayne-Students show off program to visiting Sen. Lugar

Students at Wayne New Tech Academy showed Sen. Richard Lugar on Wednesday what it's like to attend the 2-year-old high school. Lugar visited New Tech, now a demonstration and training site for a national developer of new tech high schools, New Tech Network. The school includes 100 freshmen and 100 sophomores and will add two more grade levels as students move up.

Lugar toured the small, two-story site and heard a presentation some of the students created, said Director Liz Bryan.

Students told Lugar about projects they've done and skills they've acquired. Students were also available for a panel discussion during lunch with the senator.

Also during the presentation, students refuted some of the myths and rumors circulating about New Tech.
