Odessa student won't let disability hold him back

Odessa, TX - Many students struggle with their schoolwork but going through school with a disability can make that even more difficult.

New Tech Odessa is a school centered on innovative technology and group projects.

And student Jesse Flores wanted to try out this unique campus for himself, despite any challenges that might hold him back.

"It just sounded so great, everything we do here I'm very interested in. I like using computers," Flores explains.

Jesse Flores is a freshman at New Tech Odessa but in addition to the typical challenges facing a first time high school student he has another obstacle to overcome.

Jesse was born without arms.

"I just started using my feet to type," he says.

"We weren't sure how it would work with the laptops," says Principal Adrian Vega.

Jesse says although he may need help putting on his backpack or opening the door, the technology is the easiest part.
