Students Say Technology Helps In Classroom

CINCINNATI -- Pencils, paper and chalkboards don't make the grade anymore, so a teacher and student from Winton Woods Academy of Global Studies are testifying in Columbus about the need for better technology in the classroom.

Students in a special program at the school work on laptops in the classroom, along with interactive whiteboards to help illustrate problems they're discussing.

"Students are problem solving, they're critically thinking and they're discovering answers on their own," said science teacher Jennifer Easley. "I can stand up and tell them answers, tell them what the rules are, but when they realize they need to know them for themselves, they're more interested in learning it."
