School Profile:
Columbus Signature Academy (CSA) was launched as a stand-alone autonomous New Tech school in 2008. The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation viewed the New Tech model as a revolutionary new pathway for education and the site has become the place to visit for schools exploring the New Tech model across the nation. CSA is unique in that we are the only New Tech in the country that has also implemented the ideals and methods of the New Tech Network in an elementary and middle school as well.
Columbus Signature Academy has a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) focus. Our mission is to graduate socially engaged citizens who excel in an information- and technology-rich society.
In addition to a core curriculum that meets state standards, students are immersed in STEM-focused courses and programs. Freshmen take Global Science Perspectives (geography, science and English 9) and Integrated Chemistry Physics and Algebra I. Sophomores take BioLit (biology and English 10) and Societal Analysis (current events, digital media and probability/statistics).
In addition, CSA offers academic programs in partnership with local universities and businesses. All graduates earn a Core 40 or an academic honors diploma.
Our independent high school campus is set within a larger K-12 school. We are a magnet school that draws students from the city’s two high schools via a voluntary lottery. The lottery is designed so that our demographic mirrors that of the city’s high schools.
