School Profile: 
METSA’s mission is to inspire a community of lifelong learners who meet or exceed state educational requirements and graduate prepared to pursue their postsecondary ambitions in math, science, technology or engineering. By participating in projects, presentations, senior exhibitions and internships, graduating students complete a portfolio that demonstrates their mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, as well as 21st-century learning outcomes. METSA’s 21st-century learning outcomes:

Noteworthy programs and successes: 
  • 2008-2009 TAKS scores were 8-20 points higher than the main campus and the district
  • Summer camps for English, math and engineering studies, in partnership with two universities
  • Programs in community service, career shadowing, internships, Capstone, digital portfolio, and extra-curricular activities—required of all students
  • Partnership with PLTW and IGNITE for engineering curriculum
  • Partnership with Texas High School Project for T-STEM initiative
  • Athletic and fine-arts programs
  • Teacher-sponsored clubs (Astronomy, Botball, Construction Challenge, FastTrack RC, FIRST, Rocketry, etc.)
  • Botball teams placed 2nd in both regional and nationals (2008-09 school year)
  • FastTrack RC team placed third in Nationals (2008-09 school year)
