Arroyo Grande, CA—Central Coast New Tech High School is expanding its enrollment to 150 students. The project based learning high school has received significant interest from area students and parents, and has decided to increase the number of students from 125 to 150 for its first freshman class which will begin in the fall of 2012. The increased enrollment will also allow for more flexibility with the schedule and class offerings. The Lucia Mar Unified School District will be holding a “Last Chance Community Meeting” on December 8, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Nipomo High School. This will be the final meeting before registration forms are due on January 12, 2012.
“We knew the interest would be high, that’s exactly why we are offering this unique educational opportunity in the first place, but we didn’t expect this great response that we have received thus far,” Jim Hogeboom, Superintendent of Lucia Mar Unified School District said.
The New Tech High School model integrates high-tech teaching methods with project based learning, similar to Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” philosophy. Upon graduation, New Tech students will have completed college courses, given more than 200 multimedia presentations, completed internships, performed community service, worked on real-world projects, and have a digital resume portfolio. Registration can be completed at www.CentralCoastNewTech.org.
